It
was a cold and stormy night... Okay, not really, but
here is a pasted-together copy of the original emails
that flew around and got us all interested in hitting
Belgium this year... See if you share our passion!
"A bunch of us are planning a guy's trip to Belgium
this November for the 24 Uur of Beer Festival (24 hours
of Specialty Belgian Beer)..."
It's
all Belgian specialty brews over the November 3/4 Sat/Sun
weekend, but we'll probably stay a few days longer.
Anyway, here's some info on it -- I went last year with
John Jaser and Steve Urban, and we had an absolute blast.
So
far, we've got several people committed to go, and I
expect we could have 8-10 people going if everyone signs
on. Should be great fun. Let me know if you might be
interested.... here are the emails so far on the subject
at hand...
Hey
Hey! R U Guys gettin' serious about the 24 Hours of
Belgian Beer festival this year?
http://www.24-uur.be/en/index.htm
They actually have a much better (and actually updated)
website this year! I'm thinkin' this could be the trip.
I've got another friend or two who might be interested.
I'm definitely interested at this point.
It's
at a new time November 3/4 this year, not in Mid-October.
Please respond soonest or be left behind! BTW --- I
found out the reason for moving the date this year --
Their old building was destroyed by fire! So, they are
in a new (old) building and have new dates for this
year. It looks to be in the same general area still.
And,
if we get 10 people to go, we can pre-order glasses
and chips, so no lost time waiting in line! Uhhh, does
anyone from last year remember there being any lines?
Also,
the walking DixieLand Band is back!
Mmmmm.
I can taste the beer now, and don't forget those evil
Frittes! Greasy fries never tasted so good, especially
when delivered by crazy old Belgian ladies!
Here's
more info: The festival has 37 breweries confirmed for
this year, 5 of which are new breweries. For those who
weren't at last year's event, there's approximately
2-4 beers per brewery, and the brewmasters are often
on location, so you can actually talk with the guys
who know what they're doing!
BTW
-- This is in the City of Antwerp. Antwerp (and Amsterdam)
have a great Internet shop (Easy
Everything) right next to the Train Station for
those who need to your fix whilst in Europe. There's
a lot more on the site, so check it!
Cheers,
